Heritage certificate for Mk2 Escort
Discussion
I'm hoping someone here may have done this and can point me in the right direction please. My brother has a South African built Mk2 Escort in Capetown that is being restored, and modified to an extent. It's a non original engine, and has some more modern suspension, but it's all Ford parts. The restoration is almost complete and he's going to ship it to the UK, but is struggling on how to get a heritage vertificate to register it properly. Any help appreciated.

There is no such thing available for old Fords. But he needs to be very careful what its registered as in SA before importing to UK. If it is registered in SA as Built Up status, it will likely be very difficult if not impossible to get registered in UK with DVLA unless putting it through IVA to get a current reg.

A V5 from a long dead UK Escort is by far the easiest. None of mine made it into the 1990's.
Not legal as such but what DVLA doesn't know etc.
Not legal 'as such'!!!!!! It's called 'ringing' and is highly illegal! Not legal as such but what DVLA doesn't know etc.

There's a difference between 'ringing' and re-shelling. There are many, many cars around that have been legitimately re-shelled with better condition used shells.
