I've got an optical to HDMI DAC which is powered by USB so I get the power from a USB socket at the back of my hi-fi amp. Can you not do this (or connect it at the other end, to a USB socket in the back of the telly?) Or if you are close to a power socket, change the socket to one with a USB outlet as well.

Using an old but loveable NAD amp, so not got usb...

Could change the socket to that type but ideally

A plug in version for economy right now ?

I can,but as I’ve noticed the one Inuse to charge my phone gets very hot, I am slightly concerned about leaving on in 24/7.

Quite possibly unjustified,hence the question.

A plug in USB charger from a reputable manufacturer should be fine.

I have some of my audio visual gear plugged in to a multi socket extension lead which has a couple of permanent live USB sockets built in.
