Will (some) pubs continue to take a “register” when re-opened properly indoors? If so, any views on this form of annoyance?

I couldn’t really care if a pub landlord writes down my name.

If you don’t like it then don’t go.

All the pubs near me only take your name if you don’t scan the NHS QR code. Not exactly hard to do.

Went to a cafe today with my cycle club. Only reason I gave them my name and number was because I couldn't get the track and trace app to work. If you don't want to be tracked, stay at home.

This.

People give their names and phone numbers every time they book restaurants, yet the minute we have to do it to sit down in a pub it is apparently the end of the world.

I couldn't give a toss if I have to give my name when entering a pub or bar. It is a drop in the ocean compared to what the Government, HMRC, Apple, Google, Facebook and everyone else already knows about us.

I'll give the pub my shoe size and inside leg information if they want.

I'm not bothered about doing it. They can't use it for marketing purposes (GDPR etc). It is a bit annoying in that you have to write down the names of your party etc. and I'd rather just walk up to the bar and order but I'm not going to think too much about it. Me want beer!

I don’t miss carrying a round back. My local brewery tap has opened. You scan a QR code on the table view the drinks menu, order then 5min later fresh beer arrives. As were getting near to the end of the round we order again and more drinks arrive before I’ve got to the bottom of the glass. No time wasted. Long may it continue.

I suppose so. I just miss small talk with the barman over the bar while he prepares the drinks. And I am not a fan of using my phone for everything. Easier to just look at the labels over the taps and read them out (which may involve, "What's xyz like?"). I like pubs with lots of different ales. smile

I'm not sure if being told a pub you visited had a Covid alert will persuade everyone to stay at home and isolate. Some will, most won't.

how does this work in Scotland where many people seem to be named after fish such as Salmon Stutgeon or Pike

Quite clearly Pike doesn't tell them.

Yep, I miss going into a friendly pub with decent ales that you haven't tried before. Nice chat with bar person whilst they pour you a few tasters.

It's a colossal ball ache.
Do the staff a favour and have the NHS app ready.

Can still do that now, it just takes longer and requires more staff.
App orderers may as well stay at home and get delivery. Or wait for 'Spoons. I'd encourage either.

Or those who want a chat could stay at home and post on here?

The contact info isn't being used anyway. It is a total waste of time.

Oh yes, I'd feel like I was being a right pain to ask them to bring a taster or two.
