I quite like the idea for my 5 mile commute.
I think that is where these bikes are really needed. It's basically a 125 in terms of performance, bar the range. I'm considering a SOCO for similar reasons. In London the GETIR grocery delivery bikes are all electric mopeds rather than 125s as well. Maybe this is one for the stupid questions thread?
But ...
If say 16 stone rider were to jump on a modern 125cc bike, rode along a flat road at 60mph and then headed up a decent incline the bike would slow down considerably, maybe losing 20mph or so.
If that same rider did the same thing on an electric bike with equivalent power, would the loss of speed be comparable to petrol bike? Or would it pretty much maintain its speed due to the way electric bikes produce their power??

The Bmw c evolution is classed with the 15bhp bikes and probably wouldn't struggle. But ...

It would have to be a steep hill for most 125's to slow to 45mph at full throttle. But ...

I would think a comparable electric bike would suffer even more with an air cooled battery and motor.
It seems there's a dearth of electric bikes compared to the range and variety of electric cars now available.
There's nothing that would suit my commuting needs and wants.
Something with 20-40hp (300-400cc equivalent) with a genuine range of atleast 60 miles, I.e. will do 60 miles in winter with a slighty tubby bloke on board thrashing it around. For roughly the same price or maybe a small premium.
