The Pet Climate 'Crisis'
Discussion
Did anyone else see this?
I watched with incredulity as airtime was given to some joyless nut-job on GMB this morning postulating, nay in fact outright declaring, that we should give up our pets (dogs and cats) as they are literally killing the planet. Naturally no mention of getting shot of any humans, or reducing breeding of homo sapiens
The only saving grace was the fragrant Julia Bradbury presenting the counter view (sadly not that robustly it has to be said, though she was also introduced as an 'activist' which is a new one on me and slightly disappointing - love her walking shows though).
He seemed utterly doom laden and all over the place veering from a position of saving the planet and the climate 'crisis', 'catastrophe' or whatever the current hyperbolic term is then straying into it being cruel that a parrot only gets 15 minutes 'love' a day.
We seem to be developing a thoroughly depressing puritanical streak in the UK where these self appointed so called activists appear to delight in seeking to take away anything that makes life worth living for ordinary folk.
I don't doubt Fido has an impact like everything else but animals bring enormous pleasure to many, even a sense of purpose to some, and add greatly to mental well being - what next, kill Grannie too or is that one for the Bozza thread?

It was on in the background but I couldn't bring myself to listen to it properly. I think I heard the guy advocating this say that his partner had taken their pet dog when they split up, which makes him a spiteful hypocrite as well as a cretin.
Doubtless like our elite, he didn’t mean his pet dog, he meant yours that should be put to sleep.Rules for thee and not for me
On a related issue I stumbled across Greta being given a full hour of prime time on BBC 1 last night along with her 'handler'/Rayban adorned trendy dad .
The bit I watched had her in a supermarket pushing her trolley and agonising, inter alia, over an avocado purchase - she had the Peruvian one in one hand and a (Kenyan?) in the other and eventually plumped for the one with the lowest carbon footprint. I couldn't help but think - Greta, don't buy either of them, smashed avocado on toast is so yesterday, buy a f
king cabbage or something that grows locally for gods sake! Talk about first world problems, and she has a dog - think it was a black Lab, a very overwieght looking one obviously been eating a lot of bovine products.
It's the hypocrisy of these folk which is the real crisis.

The nutters want to get rid of cows too, because of the methane apparently. I'm surprised they don't want to cull all the wildlife that eat only grass too and fart all day every day.
Pollution from cows is a very real problem.https://e360.yale.edu/features/as_dairy_farms_grow...

I don’t get avocado. It’s like a greasy tasteless paste. I have no idea why people find it so good. And on toast? Get out…. All you need on toast is lightly salted butter. The bit I watched had her in a supermarket pushing her trolley and agonising, inter alia, over an avocado purchase - she had the Peruvian one in one hand and a (Kenyan?) in the other and eventually plumped for the one with the lowest carbon footprint.
