Hi,

I've recently bought a Logitech wheel and pedals for playing driving games on my Xbox, and it makes such a difference that I'd like to upgrade to a slightly better setup than playing games on the sofa in front of the tv.

I'm not going to rush in and spend thousands on a full cockpit simulator system, but to start with I'll need to buy either a tv or a gaming monitor. A large tv is the obvious choice if I stick with the Xbox, but I'll probably add a pc sooner or later and it looks like three smaller monitors is a popular option for pc gamers.

Would £800-£1000 be enough to buy a gaming pc capable of running three monitors, or at that budget is it better to stick with one screen?

£1000 might not even be enough to buy the basic PC to run the sim at the moment, the way PC component prices are!

Of course, this all depends on what sim, monitor resolution and FPS you're aiming for...120fps @ 1080p on a single monitor will be doable at that price...but not 120fps @ 4k ultra or across 3 x 1440p (or a single 1500/1000r ultra-widescreen).

Thanks for the reality check. I'll stick with a tv for now. If I buy a new tv for the lounge and use the current lounge tv for the sim racing setup that's two new toys for the price of one, and later on I'll look for a pc that can run the games on one screen.
