How to go about leasing shop unit?

Afternoon PH

I'm thinking about leasing an empty shop on a local parade, but I dont have a clue where to start!

There are no agent boards on the property, so I'm trying to find out who the landlord is, but again, I dont know how to do this.

What would be my first step in the process? I'm thinking I'll have to get in touch with the landlord somehow, and apply to the council to open said shop.

Anyone know how I go about this?

You could ask a neighbouring shop if they know, or ring the local authority to enquire about rates (and see if they know). Some councils own lots of shops and units themselves. Or land registry.
