Looking to narrow down the search for the perfect spec 991.1 Carrera (or S).

What options would you consider 'must have'?

I think Sports exhaust is really the only one on my list so far of the bewildering amount of choice that Porsche seem to offer on the 991. PASM? What else?

Basic ‘must have’ conveniences tend to be Cruise, Heated Seats, Nav, Phone module, Park assist.
And, yes, it does benefit from PSE.

Thereafter it becomes personal preferences. I’d probably want Bose, Sports Seats Plus, PDLS headlamps, maybe a bit more leather.....

Of course the list is endless, but more options doesn’t necessarily make a better car. Often the simpler specd cars are nicer - perhaps because they are a bit lighter,

I’m sure plenty of people might prefer a newer narrow-bodied Carrera, with manual gearbox and 19” wheels, to an earlier wider-bodied Carrera S with PDK and 20” wheels.

Had my 991.1s for almost three years..not a high spec car ..the only thing I miss are heated seats ( cars a daily driver ). Cruise would be of benefit on today’s camera infested roads. My car also has Bose ..but the cars so noisy at speed it’s of no benefit , my sports exhaust also has a very annoying drone on the motorway so unnecessary. All 991.1 2wd cars are narrow body , it’s only 4wd and turbo have the wider body. Don’t get hung up on spec’s , (unless it’s your thing) get the best maintained S on 20 inch wheels ( preferably in blue ) and you’ll have a brilliant drivers car that can slouch home when your tired or give bit of a thrill when your on it….good luck with search.

I had a reasonable spec 991.1 & after that a black edition with lots of bits. I'd say PSE was a necessity as was light design package. Bose is OK (my 991.2 cab doesn't have this and I'm not overly fussed). Glass sunroof was nice (but no substitute for targa or cab) as was the LED lights. Don't have Sport Chrono on my current car and sometimes miss not having the clock - but it's an expensive clock! Sport seats are nice in a cab. Turbo wheels were very nice - but centre caps tarnished over time. My black edition was solid rather than metallic - I thought that would be an issue, but wasn't.

Depends how long you are intending to keep the car. If a long term purchase get a spec to suit you if short or medium term be more aware of what the market demands spec wise on these cars otherwise you will tend to take more of a bath depreciation wise residually if that is of concern to you. ££.

Most buyers want no brainer options on Carreras/S which add value over cost ££ and broadly are pse nav chrono phone prep digital radio nav heated seats and extended leather preferably with coloured stitching although not essential.

Any options over the above do little to enhance value and sale prospects to the general market.

PSE is essential, and Sport Chrono really should be on your list. I wouldn’t lose sleep over Bose because there’s so much road noise you can’t enjoy it anyway.

PASM makes a real difference but I think that’s standard equipment on the S.

I’d say you ideally want the Sport Design steering wheel. I really don’t like the shift buttons on my car, so am currently trying to source a Sport Design wheel for its paddles.

Ah - forgot that these didn't all come with sport design wheel - it really is worth seeking one out with this - but can obviously be retro fitted for ~£1k.
Also - speed limit display was a cost option but was installed in all 3 991 I've had - but never specified as an option. I do find this handy.
Good luck with the search!
