So, my Ford Freda is rocking a brand new steel back box which is good for keeping the noise level down (it's got a snarling 120hp diesel engine :O ).

Anyway, what I have noticed is how visible the back box is from the side due to the high suspension. I guess before I hadn't noticed it because the old backbox was covered in years of mud and dirt. What I was wondering is...can you put any sort of sealant/wax on that'll make it easier to wipe off the mud and tar deposits that accumulates over time? Or do I just get the metal polish out once a year - I'm really not that precious about it.

When you drive something that's so sporty really want people to notice the details that scream race car derived. Sorry, meant van derived biggrin

Picture of said beast just to whet your appetite...

You have your answer. Smear it with mud & dirt & it'll be invisible again smile

Cerakote or similar ceramic coating would be good but expensive.

Some diy applied high temperature paint might be better than nothing.
