I am in the process of defecting from TVR ownership to Porsche ownership and about to start looking for insurance quotes.

Nothing wrong with my area or driving record but my TVR was insured on a Classic Insurance type policy and the Boxster is too new to qualify.
My other car has full NCB etc on it but apparently it can only be used on one car at the time, although I have heard of some companies mirroring NCB.

Does anyone have any recommendations for a decent insurer that either mirrors NCB from other cars or does non bonus based policies for a 5 year old car?

Many thanks for any input in advance

Try NFU but go through one of their brokers for a better quote not the main number.

I have tried the insurers listed at the top of this forum, I get the impression Porsche isn't their specialist subject wink

Manning UK - they did my TVR’s and now the Cayman.
99% sure they will mirror NCD (or they did when I first went with them).

Are you saying it works out better/cheaper to go to one of their brokers rather than direct?

Or is there some other reason?

I also insured my TVR with them some years back, thanks for the reminder

NFU main number and office tend to be fixed prices whereas an NFU broker is more flexible and should give you some discount.

Been insured across many new Porsche GTs and other stuff for years now and they are hard to beat for prices service and quality.

Check out the PH Porsche threads on here for NFU always come out popular good value and highly rated generally way above even specialist insurers such as Manning Zurich and Hiscox but without their traditional high charges ££.

Lockton's asked what NCD I had but didn't require any proof - have plenty through company cars and private, was just a little surprised they didn't want anything on paper/email. Give them a try, found them to be great on price and top notch on service too.

Have been with Admiral for at least 10 years on a Multicar policy, currently with 5 vehicles on the policy.

Every year I go through the rigmarole of getting other quotes as they always bump the premium. But no-one else comes close on price for Multicar and they always undercut the sum of the cheapest deals I can do on the individual vehicles.

My 981S Cayman is £236 but they are particularly good on the kids' cars on the Multicar.

No trackday cover and we've not yet had to claim so no experience of what they are like when you're on the back foot.

Be careful of NFU "agents" - they don't always know what they're doing. Start of April I switched to NFU home insurance and the agent told me I had to calculate the reinstatement value and that the maximum contents sum insured is £20,000.

Phoned NFU direct. They explained they provide reinstatement values based on the RICS guidelines and that contents can be up to £100,000.

Needless to say I switched to Direct to service my cover plan.

My cars are also with NFU. Extra discount for this, and "bonus" discount each year. Monthly instalments cost nothing extra.

Another vote for A Plan

The Thatcham branch is their specialised vehicles dept..so deal with a lot of kits, customs and other specials.

They did a great price on my Cayman S

I’ve got no NCD as I’ve lived abroad for a decade and a half... LV quoted me half what nearly everyone else did for my 981CS and for that they included the add-ons like recovery & legal..

No guaranteed value though as I didn’t think to ask. Will ensure I have that on my next policy renewal.

37 year old baldy with a clean record here..

As far as I can make out their policies are not bonus based, that may be why.
