Another Fuel Problem

Drove over to ashby Folville last night ,if you have never been it is a huge car/bike meet near melton mowbry,

anyway the car started doing some strange things ,you would be driving along about 3550,4000 revs in any gear and the car would just die for a second or 2 and carry on as if nothing was wrong(electrics all okay) ,you could push more on accelerator and nothing ,then it would return back to normal,
it occured through all the gears at any rev range ,
coming back it was worse had about 5 or 6 in succession and then all back to normal again ,
(leads,dissy and rotor all replaced a year ago)

any ideas

Was it totally "dead" or just lost power??
Totally dead does sound electrical. For example, did the tacho continue to read normally at this point or did it drop to zero??

Perhaps the fuel pump relay? Mine has cut out when driving, but normally takes longer than a couple fo seconds to come back. The other possibility is the immobiliser, or the connector to the inition switch, but these are very recognisable because they take out the rev counter etc.

all electrics ok rev counter stays at current revs speedo records correct speed ,it's difficult to describe it feels like its kangarooing ,had a new fuel pump over a year ago also

I just had the same problem about to join the M20. I pulled over, let the engine idle for a few minutes, then all was fine. My guess is fuel starvation caused by the good weather. I havn`t a clue how to rectify it though!

I was plagued by a similar problem for months. After changing most things (at great expense) it turned out to be a dodgy connection to the diode which is beside the fuel injection relay. Cleaned up the Lucar connectors and it has been fine ever since.

where is the fuel injection relay located in the engine bay ,wouldn't know one if someone threw it at me

The relay is amongst the mass of wires that fall down when you remove the trim above the passenger foot well. On mine there is a yellow fuel pump relay and a brown fuel injection relay, both dangling on the ends of wires, not attached to anything. The brown relay has the diode connected to its holder. Probably worth checking/cleaning all the connections on these bits.

ah that nest that keeps falling onto the floor ,ok i will give this a shot thanks ,will let you know if it works
