Decided to change our old do it all hack Focus to something a bit more modern with plenty of toys on it. Never bought a car of this type before so I being a bit of a car snob I’m not too sure how I will get on with it, however my partner loves it. High spec model 1.7 turbo diesel. 24k miles and just on 3 years old. It does drive really nicely and there is still 4 years warranty on it.

Over the past few months, the number of these things up here has exploded. It seemed to happen overnight, all of a sudden every other car is a Sportage. That said, I must admit... I've given them more than a passing glance as a potential wife / child tool. Good looking cars and seem to be one of the best all rounders as far as 'cheaper' SUV stuff goes. Be interested to hear your views as you go.
We pick it up on Friday so I’ll report back as to how we find it. It will be used for everything including putting my petrol lawnmower in the boot and taking it to my mothers house to do the lawn. The dog will go in the back as well and it will be used for all duties. Asda, the tip and general ferrying of everything that’s needed in life.

Sorry but nothing with "1.7 turbo diesel" can ever be described as "high spec" IMHO
Well interior anyway. Full length glass opening roof. Full leather. Heated front and back seats. Heated wheel it just goes on and on the spec. DAB radio. Bluetooth, after a 2009 Focus Titanium it’s a whole lot more ozzuk said:
Similar to one I had, had no end of troubles with the DPF, ended up getting shot via WBAC. In it's defense it was used a lot for short journeys. Also started corroding in the front window pillars which I thought was strange.
Ok thanks for the heads up, how did the Dpf issues show up ? The main way to sort that out is a good run every now and then I think ?Edited by Mr lestat on Tuesday 4th May 09:36

Kept losing power, engine light would come on. Dealer had it back a few times (cleaned it?) but kept coming back. WBAC'd it in the end, overkill but I'd lost confidence and was bored with the car (sadly not an inspiring drive). After I sold it my T5 started having same problem so perhaps I'm just unlucky. I'm in an outlander PHEV now which suits my driving profile as is super cheap to run (zero tax, 200bhp petrol and costs around £1.20 to charge!). Tiny battery though.Edited by Mr lestat on Tuesday 4th May 09:36
We bought the petrol one of these at the start of last year. A 2016 model with 49k miles on it for about £7k...felt like quite the deal and we've been really happy with it. It does what is asked of it, the dealers are friendly and helpful, it looks good and is really quiet. Ultimately it allows us to get my partners elderly parents from A to B in comfort and takes us on holidays in the lake district.
Only thing I found in our manual was that 6th is puzzlingly a little lower geared than I might expect but that aside I think you'll be happy with your purchase. There's not much more to write really - which is more than acceptable for this type of car at this price.
