Am I correct in thinking that my 2015 Active Tourer 225i Xdrive F45 will have TRW callipers fitted front and rear as standard oem ?

And ....
is there just a single pad wear cable sensor at the front and rear ?

Thanks
Brian.

I'm seeing Lucas on the front, Teves on the rear. I use brakebook.com for the information.
Link: https://brakebook.com/bb/pagid/en_GB/PKW/16/12791/...

There is one sensor front left (seen from the drivers seat), and one rear right.
RealOEM link to front brakes: https://www.realoem.com/bmw/enUS/showparts?id=2A92...
RealOEM link to rear brakes: https://www.realoem.com/bmw/enUS/showparts?id=2A92...

The sensors are #2 on each diagram. I've used Pagid sensors for years, no issues.

Lucas and Teves is just referring to the caliper types, not manufacturer.
OEM is TRW, but note TRW aftermarket may not be *identical* to OE parts but often are.

Thanks,
They are TRW. The rain finally stopped and a good scrub with the wire brush eventually revealed all !
I am just wondering though, which "genius" in the BMW design dept decided that it was a good idea to do away with the wheel studs on the hub and use long bolts ! Theory might be good but practicality is (expletive) hard work.
Cheers
Brian.

BMW have used wheel bolts for as long as I’ve worked on them (going back to models from the 70s). You’ll get the hang of bolts.

I can only think of Ford that have stuck with studs as long as they have... almost everyone else uses bolts!

Must admit nearly all the recentish past cars I have had have been from Japan (Subaru, Mitsubishi, Nissan) and they all had studs on the hubs. Further back British Leyland/Triumph/MG all had studs as well. This is the first BMW I have had and the first with just long bolts and not studs .... my back don't like it !!!!!
Cheers
Brian.

Many years ago I made 2 x brass adapters, threaded at one end and rounded at the other to facilitate easy mounting (!) and you could do the same by obtaining some rod and threading 1 end.

Does your tool kit not have the rod in it?

It looks like these were last supplied in the E39/Z3/E38 timeframe.
BMW want £22 but I've seen some nice 'E-TECH' ones on Amazon £13 for 2.

Oh I was used to having one in my E38 tool kit but I have a threaded one on my very limited E82 tool kit (towing eye, screwdriver and a wheel alignment rod) - I'm guessing PO bought it

Can be found on that well known auction site "M12 x 1.5 Alloy wheel alignment"

Do you find one to be adequate? I can see how two would be better just not sure if needed.

I find it fine I always stick it in a thread and or rotate to the top, hang wheel on and do two adjacent bolts remove pin and finish off the rest

No problems - I actually had no idea that they weren't in BMW tool kits anymore my departed 1998 E38 had one and my 2013 E82 had one but I didn't realise it wasn't std equipment - once you've used one it's like why would you want to struggle not using one
