I want to hard wire a safety camera detector to a power source that switches off when the ignition is switched off via the STOP/START button. That is, not one which has the delayed power down of around 8 minutes.

Does anyone know a candidate fuse that I can piggy-back onto?

Thanks is advance for any answers.

If you buy a test light or make one you can test for one yourself.

Not sure if applicable, but in E66 there is one such cable in OBD port in the footwell. There is power only when ignition is in position 2 (engine runnig or start button pressed without a foot on the brake). As soon as I turn the engine off it cuts out.

And remember that things like the 12v sockets power down after 6 minutes or so, so switching the ignition on & off trying to find that switched 12V supply won't be easy.
On my F11 I have a 12v socket under the glovebox (next to the centre console) but I believe the G30 doesn't have that. Find the fuse for the 12V socket in the front fusebox & just piggyback off that?

Thanks for the replies.

helix402, the 12V sockets have a delayed power down of several minutes, whereas I'm trying find something with zero delay.

In the G30 there's a convenient fuse board (Z44) under the dash on the driver's side, and there is a vacant fuse slot (F59) for a delayed power down 12V supply that most people seem to use. If I can't find a zero delayed fuse, I'll probably end up using that.

I have noticed that the heater blower switches on and off when the START/STOP button is pressed. Looking at the fuses in Z44, and assuming the heater fan is represented by a fan symbol in the fuse list, then fuse F37 may be a condidate.

I'm waiting for a probe tester to arrive so I can experiment.

BTW - does anyone have a fuse symbol decoder?

Looks like this particular challenge has been already surmounted...

BFleming - thanks, I had already seen this. They used fuse F59, but that has a delayed power down.
