How much price flexibility, used car from franchised dealer?
Discussion
Having had company cars most of my life, then purchased privately, my next purchase will possibly be from a main dealer, so very limited experience.
Price is £20,000 for a 6 year old car. Similar car can be bought from non-franchised dealer for circa £1,000 less and privately for circa £1,750 less. This issue is the private sales and non-franchised dealers are all 100's miles away for the very specific car I want. The dealer is just down the road from me.
How much flexibility to dealers have on their screen price, or is is just a case of accepting their price and trying to get other things thrown in?

My experience has been that they don't want to move much (guess with the internet there's a lot of competition to price it keenly from the outset) and their negotiation is basically reducing the price by removing the paint protection, GAP, etc that they present in the initial "here's what it'll cost you" total. If you have a px, you may have a bit more wiggle room, but with most being punted to auction, don't count on it. If the car you're looking to buy is desirable, they may well stand firm.
Saying that, if you don't ask, you don't get so always worth trying
