Self defence plea from one of them who stabbed the officer 11 times! "when I felt his hands on my neck, I instinctively went for my knife and hit him a few times!"

He'd brought the knife with him from the USA! How the f*ck did a 7" blade get through both sets of customs??

Edit to add: Sorry, glance read 'hand' baggage in your post, still it shows some real mental to take a blade on holiday so intending to buy cocaine whilst there and taken as protection

They do still xray hand luggage?

Hand luggage you cant carry a knife.

Hold luggage you can. Its still x-rayed but so long as its not a prohibited item (usually combustibles etc) then you can put it in the hold. Divers, hunters and people going on camping trips etc do this all the time.

Was going to say I (used to) regularly fly with half a dozen knives in cases (chef).
