Recommend a Euro to Pound money transfer service?

My mum is about to sell her house in France is will need to transfer the proceeds back to the UK.

Rather than her just sending it bank to bank - like she will want to do - I expect she will get a better rate with a broker - anyone have any recommendations? Things to check/look out for to ensure proper protection etc?

I use Revolut for all my transfers,big sums in drips.
In the past we used Halo but find Revolut more convenient.
For a house size sum I’m not sure which I would use.

I use Transfer wise for small (<10k) transfers, but for big sums I normal speak to the bank to get a set agreed rate. Most banks will do this for sums over 100k.

Currenciesdirect.com. I lived in France and Spain for 10 years and found them excellent. There are many similar though. Always far more competitive than the bank which could easily save you 2-3%. Not a recommendation for this particular firm, although I’ve found them excellent. Just in general best not go through bank.

I've also used Revolut for property purchases - moving £10k at a time & then into a bank account.

If done mid-week, the rates are hard to beat. I wouldn't want to leave a huge balance there for any length of time, but transfer in, exchange, transfer out is low risk - it's seconds.

For ease of sign up and use, we decided to use Transferwise (or Wise as they are now). She is probably going to drip feed lump sums back, rather than all at once.

Batches because Revolut isn't (or at least wasn't) a bank with deposit protection. At the time - and may still be the case - it was the most my bank would allow using a switch card. So seemed a reasonable transaction size.

To this day I can't understand how the fraud detection algorithms didn't kick in - I moved £300k, in 30 transactions, on my phone, whist sitting in a lounge at JFK. Out of one account, onto Revolut, exchange, then transfer to another account.
My bank had screwed up the transaction twice - and I was right up against a deadline, so had little to lose by trying....

I've been using them for a few years. Really good service. I live outside of the UK and this topic comes up frequently on facebook groups etc and there is always a rush to recommend them.
