I've done launch control just a couple of times on my 440i. It has mppsk and downpipe, currently at 393bhp
Going for BM3 stage 2 soon which will take it to well above 400. I would think the LC is meant for safely launching a standard car - is there a point in the tune where you should refrain from using LC or is it built to handle the extra power?
Also, is LC considered safer than manually launching it?

LC is usually documented in the owner’s manual as being heavily strenuous on the engine components.

I would use it sparingly.

I think I would be worried about blistering the tyres more than anything.

I would be worrying about the transmission more than anything else, you're asking it to deal with significant multiples of its design torque in a huge shock load.

The officially gassed chap did his driveshafts pre loading his RS5 transmission

I really think launch control should be used at a drag strip, it's just a waiting game for something to explode.

After all, nothing ever explodes at a nice sticky drag strip.

My car’s not tuned, and I’ve only used LC once, but I think it works really well on the 35D engine.

I know it’s not to be used every minute of the day, but I presume BMW knew if they put the system on the car and in the owners handbook, that someone might try it.

Doesn’t void the warranty either, AFAIK.

Obviously, what I meant was, I would only use it for a purpose i.e. getting a PB.

I wouldn't use it at a drive through.
