Hello forum police, is the uniform a good fit?

I suspect Eric is more referring to the sort of posts the OP might attract (Minority Report style) smile

It's a shame, as I thought the black lady was quite articulate. And I suspect there are plenty in the black community that share those views.

They lady was spot on, being woke often is akin to patronising. Society might definitely be unfair but each of us has choices and we are free to make good and bad ones, the outcome of either might not be equal but equally the outcome won't or may never be primarily because of our skin colour.

Respect every one and try not to be a and you will always find life is better

The problem is that for me the thread title and the opening post didn't really mean anything. Random words almost.

Even when I watched the first couple of minutes of the video I had no idea what the OP's point was. Perhaps it's just me?

Anyway, for some weird reason I saw it through ......... and I do have sympathy with the second woman on the video.

“Here’s a black person who agrees with me” is just a short hop from the “I’m not racist, I have a black friend “

That comment above reads like a black person can not speak out against the woke agenda.
Also, to say anything anti-woke is akin to being racist.

That is the exact problem being outlined with woke-ism. It is extremely patronising and divisive, and of course needless to say in numerous cases, racist.

Would this be a fair summary?

Alyssa Milano : "Black people feel they are being badly treated"

TikTok Woman : "You're patronising us. A lot of black people issues are caused by black people"

FWIW I think there are elements of truth in both comments. I don't see anybody being "schooled" though just because somebody has an opinion that "I" agree with doesn't mean either of us is right.

The most begrudging "yep, you've got a point", I've ever seen.

One problem is that most people don't understand what patronising means.

It's not a simple case of talking down to someone. It's more a case of appearing kind and thoughtful, even helpful, but in a manner, perhaps portrayed by voice, intonation or vocabularly, that demonstrates that the speaker/poster feels superior to the person they are communicating with. It's quite simple. Feel free to ask me about anything you don't understand about patronising. I'm sure I can put it in a way that you can understand.

What on earth are you on about?

It's an opinion from someone on the Internet.

Why are you trying to shoe-horn racism into it?

Seriously. Ask yourself this question and answer it honestly.

No, not a fair summary. You seem to be watering down her message, although I agree that 'schooled' is a tad strong.

The patronising you mention was the lesser of the points she was making. The true point was the hypocrasy and racism of intersectional politics and the crazy American left.

To be honest, I think one of the biggest problem is the transposing of largely American issues into this country, where they don't necessarily exist by anywhere near the same degree.

Ok. So which part of AM's speech was "wrong" ? The "hypocrisyy and racism of intersectional politics" is her opinion, I don't see it as being a fact

"Crazy American left" , like "WOKE" just seems a Gamnon-type term to me.

And "gammon-type term" can equally be said to be from the crazy left and the woke types.
Seem to be going round in circles on that one.

Woke is a fashion, and like fat people wearing training shoes as a fashion statement, what racism actually is seems unrealized by many of those espousing things to fit in.

I was just trying to help by making the point that it's better to have a title with good grammar, that makes sense and tell people what's in the link. Then more PHers can participate.
