Just got a new server in work - a Dell PowerEdge 2800 - and we were planning on installing the DLT drive from the old server into this new machine. But when we opened it up it's one of those 'cableless' systems (probably designed so you can only use expensive proprietory add-ons ).

Been told we need a 1x2 backplane power connector with a standard 4-pin plug - but no idea where to get one. Dell's website is no help so we've no idea what (if any) part number we should be looking for.

Anyone able to shed any light on this?

I've got some Poweredge 2850's at work (blade form factor). Is the DLT drive external ? If so you can get it working by putting in a HP SCSI controller card. I've just recently done this on our new external LTO1 drive and it was a piece of piss !

If its internal i dont think it would even physically fit !

Sorted - but thanks anyhow Dell do a fixing kit with all the adaptor cables.

The 2800 is a tower configuration, not rack-mounted.
