After 5 years with a Mk8 Honda Civic I needed a newer more comfortable car for long journeys and most importantly automatic. Having set myself a budget i looked at all kinds of cars and struggled to find a hatchback that offered similar levels of space to the Civic. I stumbled across Skoda's. I couldn't quite decide between a Skoda Octavia or Superb, a Skoda Superb come up locally and i was amazed at the space, equipment levels and value for money. I initially went to view the car with the mindset of I don't like the colour and I'll just go see it to get a feel for the car.

The colour looked so much better in person, the car had real presence and felt like a major upgrade in terms of refinement to the Civic. I swiftly made an offer and was given a good deal on a part exchange for my existing car.

The car is a Skoda Superb SEL executive 2l tdi 190 dsg 4x4, I'm looking forward to doing some road trips around Europe when restrictions ease.

I think the 190 diesel with Quattro, 4-motion 4x4 or whatever each VW based manufacture calls it is one of the best combinations in a daily. We have an A3 Sportback black edition in the family with the same power unit and it's a fabulous allrounder. Can't beat a Skoda for value for money, enjoy your car.

Nice car!

We're very impressed with ours - bought a 2016 280 Estate (4x4) last year. The quality and space is brilliant, and excellent value for money.

The Superb is slightly larger than the Octavia and has a better choice of powertrains (I.e. 4x4).

Enjoy

thanks for comments all, 1 month into ownership and still very pleased with the car, it's a comfortable motorway cruiser.

It can get quite tricky to Park at times, so an aftermarket reverse camera was fitted, which is plug and play into the existing infotainment system and floormats have also been replaced for Rubber mats.

One of the very best cars you can buy at any price IMO. We are on our third (SEL Greenline estate) and regularly achieve in excess of 60 mpg and routinely make 55 mpg+ . In 8 years the only failure has been one satnav which would have been an expensive repair out of warranty although there is a specialist that can fix them for a whole lot less. Otherwise cheap as chips to run.

that's reassuring to hear from a reliability perspective. I doubt I'd achieve anywhere near those figures having DSG and 4x4, currently averaging around 44mpg with a mix of driving majority motorway. what engine and gearbox do you have?

1.6 Diesel/manual. It's the family hold-all!
