Hey peeps, looking for some help from the Boxster hive mind regarding pads. I have a set of Porsche brembos running on my track car but I’m a little confused about what pads I should go for, I am currently running DS1.1 but they are due for replacement, demon tweaks don’t appear to stock them anymore and there appears to be some confusion my side if I’m looking for 986 or 987 pads.

Part numbers for the calipers are 986351421 & 986351422 and point to Porsche 986 2.7 Boxster 1996-2004, but I can’t find decent pads for the 2.7 (but I can for 2.5 - are they the same?), they seem to be around for 987 though, did the calipers change for the 987 or will those ones fit?

Anyone else running different pads? Like Pagid, CL or Carbotech?

Thanks

What car are they on? Most of the online parts suppliers allow you to enter your reg to give the correct parts

ETA: sorry just realised that you are talking about using porsche calipers on a different car. Why don't you check the part numbers on Design911 or Rose Passion. They usually say which models they fit

And yes the 2.5 and 2.7 Boxster 986 used the same pads

Thanks for the reply, this was super helpful - I didn't know about either site but it appears Design911 list the callipers I have as fitting both the Boxster 986 & 987, 2.5 & 2.7 as well as the 2.7 987 Cayman

So now its just a case of researching which pads to use, the DS1.1 are great but weighing up options.

Be a little careful with Design911 part numbers... few friend have had instances where the number is just wrong and the part they receive isn’t what they expected.
Eventually all corrected but PITA to chase up and return items etc.

So just cross check the numbers at multiple sources first before placing order.

Thats good advice, thanks - I am not going to be ordering from them, I'll use demontweeks as I have a few things to order as well, but I might grab some reg numbers of the classifieds and shove them into ECP to make sure the part numbers on the brakes all correlate. I just needed a push on where to start. The Design 911 site looks useful for a lot of things.

I'll have a Porsche myself one day!

The Boxster 3.2 uses the same calipers and discs and obviously pads from the 996.
