Need some decent advice re removing paint
Discussion
Selling my fiancé's car, originally the allows were bicolour black and silver, I sprayed them satin black about 2 years ago.
Ideally, I want to take off the say in black spray paint and get them back to the original bicolour but am struggling to find a good answer as to how.
They were very lightly sanded, primed, painted then lacquered. The paint is already chipping away round the edges so can't imagine it's on there amazingly.
A few people suggested simply trying petrol on a rag and giving it some elbow grease, others said try graffiti remover and other said laquerer thinner, tires will be on still.
Or realistically, is it best to respray them gloss black...

Are you saying they were diamond cut (black and silver) before you attacked them with the rattle can? I'm not optimistic about your chances here - anything that dissolves the top layers of paint isn't going to stop when it gets to the original paint/ lacquer, plus you've already sanded it. If they're diamond cut you might get away with sanding the cut faces back to metal and then lacquering, I don't know what kind of edge finish you'll end up with, but it might be worth a try. They're not going to look brilliant whatever you do to them, but it probably won't hurt to try before you end up taking them to a pro.
