Just wondering if anyone on here has attempted to sort out any play in the rack themselves, (non PAS) looks to me like it is a shim adjustment under the plate on top rather than the normal adjustable type, havn't taken it off to look as yet tho (too busy driving around getting sun burned). Is there a rebuild kit available for these as I might have the rack off in the winter and give it an overhaul? Any help appreciated, and no i'm not sending it off anywhere to get it referbed as I think that is a complete rip off for somthing that should be fairly straight forward.
All is quiet, I can't believe that there is nobody out there that has referbed a steering rack??
I tried removing that plate and shimming to try to take up the play (94 Grif, no pas). It didn't work so I've lived with slight play. I think it's more likely the bushes at either end of the rack that need replacing.
If you get any further, please post the results.

Had (Have) play in my rack. Had a new rack fitted when the chassis was rebuilt and within a few miles the play is back again. Think it must be standard as every Chimaera I have seen has a bit of play in the rack
Not as yet, was going to wait until it gets a bit colder then strip it all out. Got some new UJ's as well and i'll bung some new track rod ends on there all at the same time.. Too busy hooning around in it at the moment.
