Hi all,

I've currently got a samsung s10 with dual nano physical sims, 1 work 1 personal, I'm about to move jobs and likely to get an iPhone, this phone does allow two sims, but one has to be an esim, my only thoughts are if I were to lose a phone/job with my esim attached, how easy is it to transfer an esim back to another phone. There doesn't seem to be a lot on this (or I've not found it).

So wondered what other peoples experience would be of using an esim.

If it helps the esim would be on the 3 network.

TIA

Paul

Three can’t issue esim can they?

I left Three last year for this reason as I wanted an esim and had waited for over 3yrs and they still hadn’t delivered.

I can only speak for EE, but all you need to do is initiate a SIM swap - physical SIM to eSIM, eSIM to a physical SIM, or eSIM to eSIM. The swap won't happen until you confirm you're ready via a link on the EE website.

You'll receive a SIM pack, either in the post or you can pop into a store to request one. You then scan the QR code to load up the details into the iPhone.

This is how EE work... they send you a QR code in the post and that links to the data settings to put on a new phone. Or, as above, you can get the code immediately I think from an EE store.

I have an eSIM in my iPhone and am still wondering about the benefit - as I don't need dual sim functionality. I guess it makes the phone harder to reuse if stolen as there's nothing physical to take out. Also it could be found on Find My Phone I suppose..

Just tweeted 3 and they've replied saying it was a trial of esim's which is now over and but they should go fully live later in the year.

You'd be better off getting the company number on the esim, then you can just stick your sim in and out when required.

Also what network is the company phone on? Might be locked and not allow other network sims.
