V8 vantage - isofix question

Morning all,

I’m trawling around looking for a v8 vantage (2007 onwards), but do need isofix as part of some very tenuous justification.

My question - do ALL cars with airbag deactivation have isofix mounts? If not is there any way of telling from photos whether there are mounts?

I read that fully adjustable seats don’t have isofix - I assume these are the memory option seats?

My model year 2009 Vantage has the standard fully adjustable seats, but no ISOFIX sockets.

Recently there was a topic about child seats in an Aston Martin GT car (with rear seats).
I wondered what the UK legislation now permits, regarding child seats being fitted in the front seats of cars.

Child seats in the Vantage is a massive pain.

Only the most basic seat have fixings and the off switch for the air bag.

Most I’ve seen online seem to have the key to turn the airbag off on the passenger side of the dash (behind the door), but I can’t work out of these also have the fixings. Most of these involve a long drive to go and view, so it would be helpful to be able to knock some off the list

Sorry, unable to answer that at present.
It has never been relevant to me, but I wonder if the the air bag is switched off when the seat is unoccupied.
Not that it would help you, because with a child seat it would be occupied.

For the first time in a long time I have driven mine to work this morning, I have just grabbed the manual.

This is for a 2007.

Isofix is ONLY available on non hight adjustable passenger seats, the airbag must be switched off.

Vehicles with a height adjust passenger seat do not have ISOFIX bars. a tether anchor point or an airbag deactivation switch.
Aston Martin does not recommend the use of any child seats for this vehicle which require the use of the vehicle seat belt.
If a forward facing child seat is to be used, move the passenger seat to its rearmost and lowest position.

Do you *need* ISOFIX? The only reason that you would need it would be if you use a rearward facing baby seat (as you need the ISOFIX option to have the airbag off switch).

I have a baby/toddler seat that can be used from 9 months onwards (forwards facing), with the airbag activated. It attaches using the seatbelt rather than ISOFIX. Edit - and as stated above, I use it in the lowest/furthest back position.

I may be wrong, having no kids, but I would have thought you'd want the passenger airbag off if you've got a child seat in the front seat, whichever way it faces.

I think the lateral security of isofix is pretty useful and they are far less easy to put in incorrectly, which is a consideration as I won’t be the only driver. Just saves me a little worry. If it’s not a realistically available option then I’ll think about doing what you’ve done, but would quite like to go isofix if all I lose is a bit of extra adjustment in my seat.

I thought the same (I was looking at retrofitting the airbag switch), but you’re meant to leave it on for front facing seats. The child seat is so far back that it wouldn’t be an issue.

I have the Britax Romer Eclipse (with a seat protector) if you need one that fits a 2007 (someone else on this forum recommended me the same seat).

I guess the difference for me is that I very rarely use the car with my little one, but it’s always me who fits (and tests) the seat, and I’m the only driver.
