I'd like a bit of hive mind view on an investment decision. I have had a proportion of my old pension trapped on the Standard Life/Elevate platform for the last 18 months thanks to the decision to suspend the M&G Feeder of Property Portfolio in Dec'19.

It finally opened up again for transactions on the 10th May. Given the nature of the fund, the valuation seems to update very irregularly on the Elevate platform. If everyone has dived in and is selling before it runs out of liquidity again (the cause of the original suspension) then I feel I should get out too.

However, a sell off of the fund doesn't affect its actual valuation, right? So my decision should be based on a combination of current value (about 15% down on original investment - assuming current valuation is actually the current valuation and not subject to a lot of lag) and whether it is likely to improve in the coming months. On the flip side, I don't really want to see my money locked up again for another 18 months with an ever decreasing valuation but no ability to get out.

On balance, I feel I am done and want to liquidate and transfer cash into something with more of a future, but can anyone see something I am missing?

If you can sell and reinvest within the pension, why not. I almost sold Aviva Property early last year because it was a donkey. My accountant (not a man of haste) said 'Oh, leave it until we do the year end figures' and stupidly I took his advice. It was suspended shortly afterwards and still is. That money could have been doing something useful.
