Memories of childhood... Ruined by modern knowledge.

Who remembers the TV programme 'Jamie and his magic torch'? Mentioning this to my wife, she remarked it was lucky it wasn't a fleshlight. Another childhood memory ruined.

I wrote a number of times to Jim'll fix it. I was as ugly as a child as I am as an adult, so that might have been why I didn't make it in to screen.

What things of your childhood could have been ruined by modern knowledge? The number of dodgy gameshows, toys, books and everything else we had, some must have aged very badly....

I wrote to Jim’ll fix it asking to ‘kick a dirty man’ (I meant a tramp)... turns out it could’ve been an easy fix.

I read somewhere it was never meant to be just for kids, just the way it turned out

Terrorized by public health films about the dangers of farms in the 70's. As a child or an adult I didn't once fall in the sewage pit or the blades of a combine harvester.

I know what you mean, things like the "Panthermobile", the long pink limo with a kid driving sat way out in like a racing car cockpit at the front, delivering the Pink Panther an freinds to Manns Chinese theatre, was so jealous of that kid !

As a kid, you want your dad to have something similar (maybe not in pink though) and you think loads of folk in that America drive stuff like that, then you see photos of it as an adult and its a wreck, and was always a lashed up prop that was largely undriveable.

"Two little boys" by Rolf Harris was my elder brother and my song. It used to bring a tear to my eye thinking about us growing up together. Luckily I never hear it any more!

What is it about quicksand? It seemed a very real threat when I was a kid, now my Daughter (6) is obsessed.

It must be said, Quicksand is a very rare thing in the suburbs of North Cardiff.

I used to write to Jim (wanted to drive a rally car) and send my drawings into Rolf almost every week in life...

Well, I say I done it.. I used to give them to my big sister to post for me..

After all the peado stuff came out, she proudly told me that she had just been putting them in the bin all those years.. "to save me from them"...
