I'm still flirting with which 911 I should get as my first 911.

I've gone from a 930 to a SSE to a 1971 2.2T to a 964 Turbo to a 933 Carrera sport and now thinking about a GT3 997 manual or 991.1 auto GT3 !

I don't want to spend more than 100k and ideally quite a bit less.

I need to think about how it fits into my mix of cars that I have.

2021 1966 Shelby Cobra 427 aluminium bodied tool room recreation
2018 Lamborghini Huracan Performante 5.2L V10
1989 Ferrari Testarossa Flat V 12
1995 TVR Griffith 500HC V8
1968 Jaguar E-Type series 1 FHC 4.2L inline 6

Would a GT3 997 manual or 991.1 GT3 auto fit in well for a different driving experience? Would I be better with a completely different 911?

You'd be best driving both to decide which you like more and/or are likely to use more. The 997 fits into the gap of your cars better I'd say though as the 991 doesn't obviously offer all that much more (outside of on track but that has it's own issues) over the huracan.

If I had these cars in the garage plus a 991.1, I don't think I'd ever drive it. As every time I want a modern paddle car, I'd take the Huracan. Therefore I think you'd be better off with the 997 as that gives you a reasonably modern/easy to drive manual car.

Good luck with your search

Depends on how you plan to use the car? IMO, if it's going to be used regularly/daily, then 991, if not then 997

In isolation I’d say 991.1 PDK-S, but with your current fleet I think I’d steer towards 997 Manual.

997 GT3 would seem to me ideal bridge between the attributes of the Lambo and those of the Ferrari/TVR - performance and convenience of the former, but a more tactile and engaging drive like the latter two.

Amazing garage there 👍

Are you not missing something turbocharged? How about a 996 GT2? I’m not sure you can get much different then. Make sure your will is up to date first though!

I actually think an air cooled 964 RS would fit in there just nicely.

But out of those two the 997 would be my choice. You would never drive the 991 in that garage.

The 964 is a nice small car, nimble and fun, yet you could use it and park it.

I don't have the budget for an RS supersport.

I did however have my eye on this.

Worth look at my garage post ever! laugh

Great collection of cars, Cobra, Testerossa, E-Type and Griffith are all icons.

Kind of begs the question what do you want from a 911?

The 991.1 GT3 would be more usable (of the two). The 997 GT3 would be more weekend. But you seem to have a few weekend toys! smile

Perhaps a more discreet everyday 911 like a 991 GTS maybe the way to go?

Looking at your garage, you've got a nice gap where the 997 fits, I would of thought the 997 GT3 would be a great extra to bridge the gap in your collection.

A 911 is so different to what I have and I've never had one. I'm also a bit addicted to the buying process on a new car and getting to know it.

You obvs like old school stuff and have this covered already with your existing fleet and so I would suggest the 991 is the choice over the 997 which is overvalued and less usable imo. 991.1 totally different package to the Performante.

Ultimately it will come down to whether you want auto or manual and depends on your use of the car but as usual drive both and see which you prefer.
