Compared to your method, two buckets would certainly save time and water.

A bucket saves no time at all. The lance quick snaps on/off.
Also I see all these videos of detailers and they fill up the bucket full yet only dunk a few times anyway, so the tendency to fill the bucket up is as much a waste of water as my approach.

Lets face it, the two bucket method is baloney.

Do you use new mitts every wash, or wash and dry the used ones? Not clear from your post.
If you used DI resin water for the final rinse then no need to towel, and possibly introduce scratches.

Spray car with hose and cold water.

Wash car with sponge, hot water and car shampoo.

Spray car with hose and cold water.

Wipe surplus rinse water off with plastic blade.

Wipe dry with chamois.

Job done.

Repeat every 6 weeks or so.

This (although sometimes I do apply a little polish). Everything else before or during is just a result of very clever marketing and soft heads lapping it up

Same here but find microfibre cloths are better than chamois.

Also chuck in a Autoglym polish followed by a wax.

Isn’t the opening post just a bit pompous?

BTW...I use a 4 bucket method.

All this nonsense is easily avoided by getting a new car delivered once a month.

I think that just comes down to whether you notice and care about swirling in paint.

I have never polished a car in my life. My son bought me an electric polisher about 15 years ago, it is still in the box unused.

I use the two bucket method, one for the sponge and water and the other to store the shampoo, blade and chamois in.

Foam
Rinse
Foam
Washmitt with a rinse bucket (with same shampoo as foam)
Rinse
Dry if i can be bothered (might even use ONR, Last Touch, Aquawax, etc if I’m feeling fancy).

They’re all covered in birdst at the minute, so probably just a foam and rinse for them all tomorrow.
