Anyone else seen this new livery for McLaren as a one off for the Monaco GP this weekend?

Thoughts?

I like it. Shame it’s only for one race.

Did Mclaren ever actually run with the duck egg blue and orange stripe? to me that scheme is Wyer/LeMans, nothing to do with F1.

Their Gulf colours and McLaren are sponsored by Gulf, makes perfect sense to me... I think it looks fabulous

They're linking the colours to the F1 LM Gulf car

No.

I don't recall Gulf ever sponsoring any F1 teams.

Doesn't matter though - it looks great on this year's McLaren.

You have to look really hard, Eric, but it's on Denny Hulme's 1969 McLaren....

Gulf also sponsored the (terrible) Rondini

The Rondini is a Tyrrell 007.

Is Rondini Italian for Ron Dennis?

Looks really nice and miles better that that dull current livery (Though maybe usual one looks better in real life)
Shame money talks and once its gone they will revert as they wont be doing free publicity for gulf.

Never heard of Rondini. Did they ever get to run in a Grand Prix?

I see McLaren are pushing the classic livery today on the 720.

It takes 2 weeks to paint, don’t you know smile

To be honest, it looks good on any car - even Caterhams -

Missed a trick not painting the wheels orange. Any idea why teams don't carry over colour schemes onto the wheels generally? The Alpha Tauri looks fantastic this season with white wheels so presumably there is no technical reason why it can't be done.

They did one of the 70s privateers. Roald Goethe a collector of Gulf liveried cars has run the car in the Monaco Historics a couple of times.

Did it actually qualify for a race?
