Having been a regular customer of Paintshield (www.paintshield.co.uk) in Peterborough over the last decade with my cars for their 3M paint protection film, I was very disappointed to recently discover the firm is now closed (going into administration in late 2019).

Their URL now directs you to Xpel in Hertfordshire.

Does anyone know Xpel and had dealings with them for the 3M protective film being put on their car? It isn't something I'd like done to my new car by a company I don't know (or at least didn't have decent reviews/referrals).

Thanks smile

Xpel is a brand of film and a direct competitor to 3M film. It’s not a company that supplies/applies 3M film.

Xpel film is very well regarded and always scores well in tests. I’ve not checked, but it’s probably the market leader in the UK.

I had it applied to the entire front of my car when it was new in 2018 and it’s still pretty much blemish free.

Ah, so they don't actually apply the film at this new place the Paintshield website now connects to, they are just to manufacturer/supplier of the film?

Xpel is a film supplier, they have an 'installer locator' on their website so you should be able to find someone local to you.

Cheers,

I nearly went to Paintshield to get my RS done, but ended up getting mine Xpel covered (the self healing stuff) by Jack at https://autofx.co.uk/ now based just north of Newport Pagnall rather than Sharnbrook where mine was fitted.

5 years later it still looks good and would thoroughly recommend.

Paintshield was effectively taken over by Xpel uk and the guys at paintshield went with them. So, Joe is still designing the patterns and stewart is installing. And yes, they install on site. I used to do all the detailing work at paintshield and worked there for years. Such a shame it ended up like it did.

Good to know, thanks. Will be making some calls soon...
