We received a final bailiff notice today for a "fail to supply driver info" in the name of someone we have never heard of.

I know this is probably quite common , but a longstanding "nosey" neighbour has never heard of this person , and they certainly haven't lived there since before 1995 , which is quite a long time to trundle around with incorrect (false ?) paperwork.

Should I notify someone , DVLA , police , to cover my back ?

At the very least return to sender with "not known at this address" scrawled on it.

Silly buggers. Surely a simple check of the electoral role will show no such person at that address?

Just thinking out loud , if I was to give DVLA a list of all vehicles registered to me or my wife , a quick search on their computer , and all other vehicles at that address put onto the APNR list , ok I'm dreaming.

Could have been part of the census though ? Would have caught a few scumbags on the hop possibly ?

As a safety feature for the future should the need arise I would pop down to Plod Station and have a natter with them. There may a case of cloning or identity theft.Ask them to raise an incident number for future reference.

Write back, politely to whosoever sent you the demand pointing out the false details and that you are not involved with any supporting evidence.

Dont blame the authorities but the berk who is using your details.

Sorry to bump this back up again , I know it didn't really enthral first time round , but if a NIP is sent to my address because that is what the DVLA have as the offending owners address , how come we haven't received any road tax reminders in said owners name ?
