Worn out Valet Key

The rubber buttons on my key had become unreliable and I had to look at options.
£565 for a replacement key, and I then found Www.astonmartinkeyrepair.co.Uk
£275 to replacement rubber buttons with glass and now all good again.
I live close and the job was done in less than half an hour.

I had this on my valet key and looked around for alternatives. Although the glass buttons are nice, I'd then have to upgrade the plastic case as it would let the glass buttons down.

I ended up making my own buttons using 2 part putty from the dentist. It's the stuff they use to take impressions of your teeth.

Works well - I pressed it through the holes where the buttons would normally sit and then made sure that the new buttons didn't stick out further than the case, otherwise they'd foul the slot the key goes into and you'd potentially have a stuck key.

It was always a temporary solution, but 18 months on and it still works fine.

It still can't be beyond the wit of man to conjour up replacement buttons at sensible cost. They're £3 on eBay for most other cars.

I am sure I saw complete new cases that you could just swap the internals over for about £100? Not sure if they’re still available or suit all models but may be worth looking for.

Depends on which Aston you have, but you can get repair kits for around £85.00

Do the glass buttons fit in the valet key? they look more durable than the rubber ones

Love the lateral thinking. Also handy spares for when you bite down on a piece of shot and the worst happens.

If you happen to have warranty the key can be replaced FOC.
