Without giving away too much detail, my son is a journalist, specialising in a particular genre and is quite well know in those circles. He's employed by a national media organisation, but, with the blessing of his employer, runs his own Twitter feed reporting news about this genre. For those who follow this thing, he's well known and well respected.

He's coming up to 100K followers, which for this genre is huge. Only the actual top participants/stars of the thing would have more. But many of his tweets get picked up by the stars, and get retweeted so his impressions can be huge. Last week he had a tweet that hit 100m impressions, with an engagement rate of around 4%, so 4m people engaged with the tweet, either retweeting or commenting, and the remaining 96m just read the tweet.

So he's thinking it's time to try and monetise his Twitter feed. Anyone know where to start. Any agencies that can be recommended as trustworthy, to help monetise it for a % of the income generated? Anyone got any experience of this world ?

Sorry to be so vague but I don't want him identified. A few PHers know who he is / what he does so if you're reading this, please don't say.

Thread bump.

He's now gone over 100K followers, and has applied for his blue tick as he's attracted a few parody accounts set up by the usual jealous morons.

Anyone got any suggestions?

Forget twitter and head to Instagram? , that appears to be the money spinner

Does he really need daddy to help him on in life ? On the face of what said he might be doing just fine on his own feet .
As other said and from observations instagram ( and Youtube ) seem to the the thing the bright young things are spinning money from nothing ...and in great big heaps for the ones with even a smidge of actual talent in their field .

Not at all. But he works around 15 hours a day, and I'm retired, so I've volunteered to carry out some initial investigations. It's not a crime is it, for a time rich parent to help their time poor adult child?

what would the monetisation give his sponsors or followers…

if sponsors then he needs to probably move his following to a more visual platform such as instagram / youtube / tiktok / etc

if followers then patreon or substack are worth investigating - I would start with substack as a journalist
