Hi there,

Does anyone have recommendations on some kind of physical security device for the Chimaera?

I have baton type thing that fits thorugh a standard steering wheel already (used for my Ford Focus ST) but unfortuately it's too big for the Chimaera.

Are there any other smaller, more useable security devices available that people have experience of using in a Chim?

Many Thanks!

Disklok

Cumbersome thing to put somewhere when driving, or how about one of these?

The simple things are often the best, install a kill switch in the fuel pump supply up under the dash on the passenger side perhaps, only you'll know where it is. It will defeat an opportunist, at the end of the day if a car thief really wants a car he'll take it one way or another!

Yeah I use a disklok, can be defeated in a couple of minutes with a pair of decent grips though. If I'm leaving the car for a long time or somewhere I don't like I just remove the ECU, the only way they're getting it then is if they lift it or come equipped with an ECU in their pocket and if they're that prepared you're never stopping them anyway.

That's a really good idea - daft question - I take it you mean the electrical supply to the fuel punp? Also if someone did turn the engine over with the fuel pump supply off - would it damage the car in any way?

Hi Philip,

Me and couple of my friends have one of these.. very useful if you leave the car for long periods in terms of battery drain.

Surely a disc lock is the easiest cheapest, thing to use.

Presumably you have an Alarm/immobiliser? That will be cutting feed to pump anyway.

By "physical" I perhaps wrongly assumed you wanted something visual to deter a would be thief from even breaking in and buggering up the ignition switch or whatever trying to start it before before giving up coz it won't start !
