San Marzano tomato tins
Discussion
Many people don't realize that San Marzano is a type of tomato, not a brand.
I grow them every year because they are easy and taste better than anything out of a can.
Grab a 5 gallon container, a bag of potting soil and you'll have more tomatoes that you know what to do with.
As a side note the Roma tomato was developed from the San Marzano.

I buy big tins and like these:

I think you can get 400g tins (maybe different brands) from the supplier. If you're into your Italian food and/or pizza making you can spend a fortune with them!

Is it too late to start growing them now? (genuine question, I have no idea)I grow them every year because they are easy and taste better than anything out of a can.

You can buy starter plants, but it may be a little late for seeds as you sow them indoors 6 weeks before the last expected frost.https://www.dobies.co.uk/vegetable-plants/all/toma...
Give them a call because there are a few differences between the UK climate and that of New Mexico where I live.

I'm sure there are plenty of avid gardeners on the forum who can give you sage advice.
I love this place for Italian food. Based in Coventry I think and they offer delivery I think.
They sell a few brands, this is one example.

Although San Marzano is a type of tomato they do have DOP status if they are grown in the region near Vesuvius in Italy, cant remember the exact name. So not all San Marzanos are the same and even then you'll get cans that say San Marzano style, if it says DOP on the label it'll be the right tomato from the right region, if it says San Marzano it'll be the right tomato but grown somewhere else, anything else forget it, that is of course if this really worries someone to that extent. You can probably plant them out and still get some crop... and you can keep them inside if you have space...

All b*ll*cks. It is impossible to get decent tomatoes in the UK as the climate simply isn't warm enough for them to ripen properly.
Cirio are the best of a bad bunch; Mutti not worth the extra cash.
If you grow them in the greenhouse you can get great tomatoes (don't have experience of growing the ones mentioned though).Cirio are the best of a bad bunch; Mutti not worth the extra cash.
Anyway, the OP was asking about tinned tomatoes. The brands you mention are standard supermarket fodder (Mutti being one of the better ones). There have been links provided to what the OP is looking for - simply need to know where to look.

Maybe not ripened by the Tuscan sun but they were very good.
I will be trying this sauce this week. First time I have used a pre-made sauce.
