Hi guys, hoping someone can help me out. Corsa D VXR 2014. Just put a Ramair cone filter on in place of standard box but I’m not sure if everything is working properly. Took top of the box and filter out and screwed new one to end of MAF. when revving on drive it struggles to get past 3k (sluggish) unless you floor it and with a steady increase up the revs you can hear the turbo whooshing before you step off the gas - is this normal? Same when driving - if accelerating steady you can hear a slight whooshing at about 3k but if you nobble it proper you can’t hear it until you change gear. Doesn’t seem to have slowed the car any. Hoping it’s normal but could it be the recirc valves diaphragm? TIA

Filter it’s self will make no difference.. you have more than likely not plugged the MAF back properly / upset something when fitting filter.

You will hear the recirc valve working with an open filter more than standard, it shouldnt hold the performance back though.

Also the induction noise is louder with performance filters ect. If it’s just noise your referring to it’s normal. It’s the induction noise and turbo noise due to the filter.

Hi guys, thanks for replies. I’ll check the MAF and pipe work. I thought you only heard the tsssshhhhh when you changed gear - I am sure I can hear it under slow acceleration and didn’t know if that should happen or not. I thought something might be wrong but it doesn’t seem to have affected performance. Cheers.

You can here the turbo ‘whooshing’ a lot more with a performance filter. My opinion is it’s fine. When you have a cone filter and especially a metal intake pipe you will here all the noises that the turbo will make. I feel the new noises are making you paranoid.

Thank you seabod, I’m new to this so it probably is me being paranoid. Took it for a bit longer a run out and the noise on steady acceleration is different to the turbo tssshhhh on gear change so probably is just intake of air noise. Thank you for putting me at ease.
Stay safe.

Put the stock air box back in and se if it feels better? Did you change the pipe the MAF is fitted to of just fitted a filter?
