I'm seriously pondering getting one. Just for a more relaxed ride, something that can be half way fun/interesting but I don't need to do 100mph+ on it for it to make sense. I was looking for a Guzzi 1100 sport but they don't seem to exist for sale!

What should I look out for? Any known issues? Anyone got one?

There's not many Guzzi 1100's about - I nearly bought one off ebay the other week - cheap ones are quickly snapped up. There are a few on ebay ATM but they look a bit expensive to me

You might want to consider the Griso

I'd be interested in owners opinions too as I've been contemplating one.

The 9T really benefits from a decent rear shock, I fitted the basic Nitron one to mine, apart from that they are great, sort of old school feeling engine in a decent chassis, really nicely finished as well, I don’t think you would regret it.

Oh and the tyres aren’t tubeless which makes life a bit trickier if you have a puncture, although there are kits to seal the wire wheels so you can run tubeless but I’ve heard mixed reports.

And they turn heads, usually of middle age blokes!!

I had one as a loan bike, took it down the North Cornwall coast for a leather jacket & jeans ride, summers evening pose through St Ives, and yes, disappointed with who reacted smile

Obvious alternative has to be one of the big Bonnevilles?

Got to admit, not impressed with my BMW dealer which would decide me if looking for something like that.

I'm not a fan of triumph's, I don't see the bonneville as being in the same league.

I had one, they are ok, brakes are suberb as said. Swopped it for a speed twin which I think is far better (for me anyway)

I'm not sure I like all the extras on that, but each to their own.

I've got a scrambler. We rented a couple variations down in Cape Town last year, and I really just enjoyed riding them. Very fun and "happy" bike to ride. The normal R9T definitely rides a tad better than the scrambler - better front forks and brakes felt a little sharper. Its also a bit better equipped than the scrambler. But as a 3rd bike, I didn't care for all that, and wanted the scrambler. tongue out

I don't think you can really go wrong, and they hold their value fairly well too.

A 15 for £9k - seems expensive.

SBS have 18's for less with sub 3k on them

I just like the sorted suspension, its circa £2.2K's worth, so i'd happily pay £1k over normal rates for it.

I wouldn’t buy from the super bike factory. The bmw one does seem sensible price wise!

I nearly bought one brand new on the Isle of Man. Flew in for the TT, with no bike, went to buy one, and dealer there did triumphs and bmw.
Ended up with the triumph 2nd hand, but they had a brand new cafe racer 9t in, in white and martini, 9700 quid ready to go!
I was very tempted indeed! This was 2017 so not long ago. I reckon it would be worth near that now.

Anyone have a real world view of R9T vs Thruxton R or RS?

Also interested in one (for later years), a question I have not seen the answer to on a forum and may be of benefit to the OP, have any owners had their clutch replaced?

Only information I can find suggests it is a Haynes 6 spanner job with potentially the associated cost.

There is a guy i have seen and heard a few times whilst i have been out on a regular trip i make, so he must live or work locally, as i see and hear him at least 50% of the time i have in slow moving traffic. Anyway, he has what i can only assume is NO EXHAUST whatsoever on it, it sounds really odd, bloody loud, but with a "doodlebug" noise too.

I think it would drive me bonkers, just so loud, but it is certainly distinctive!
