After reassembling the dash (after carpet, leather and veneer renovations) my fog light now does not work.

During the renovations I removed the "Light Control Box" and the ribbon cables, all labelled up properly for refitting. Everything connected back up and hazards work, lights work, but nothing when I operate the fog light switch. Tried swapping the ribbon cable over just in case and still nothing.

From what I understand the power supply to the Lights Control Unit is fused, so as lights and hazards work its not that.

Checked fog light bulb and thats ok too.

Any ideas ?

Just realised we might be on crossed paths.....

The problem is the REAR fog light and switch which should be on with either dip or main headlights.

FWIW I don't think I have ever seen front fogs on a chim

I had same problem. Circuit board on switch was burnt out, difficult to see.... but burnt out, £15 fix.

Jody at Python Racing, Colchester. Put switch in post and got back in 3 or 4 days. Great service. He just adds a piece of wire to jump between the burnt out printed circuit. Very common problem apparently.

Rear fogs are on dip beam only. The logic being if you can drive on main beam (without going 'snow blind') you do not need rear fogs.

That's really useful to know, so not a component just the wire burnt.

I wasn't aware of that either, amazing, didn't know it was wired "dip beam smart"

Another possibility is you have inserted the ribbon cable the wrong way round. I don't mean end to end but one end fliped over.
If you look carefully using a magnifier you will find a pin 1 marking on the switch so that edge of the ribbon must go to pin 1 on the control box.

Fog light now operational, although the ring light LED on the switch doesn't illuminate.

To confirm the problem was my lack of knowledge, the rear fog light comes on and off with the low beam/high beam stalk switch.

Thanks all for helping me learn.

Now need to find why the led switch light isn't working.

Nope. Rear fog only works if headlamps are on & not on full beam.
