Can anyone offer any experiences on the company Watchfinder & Co?

I'm looking at buying an Omega from them and trading in a Tag I bought a few months ago but have come to regret a little, they have given me a valuation on the Tag subject to inspection which is fine, I'm losing a few hundred on my purchase price but such is life.

What they have asked is that I pay the price of the Omega minus the valuation of the Tag and send the Tag into them which they arrange collection of and once they have inspected it assuming that is satisfactory they send me the Omega.

I intend to pay for the Omega via Credit Card for the protections and Watchfinder seem a respectable company with physical stores dotted around the country with decent reviews on Trust pilot so it seems ok but is there anything I should be wary of? Anyone with personal experiences?

Thanks

I painlessly bought a Bremont from them three years ago, and was planning on selling it back to them, but their valuaton is very low.

Not a surprise, but the delta is pretty big, and it's not as if the market value is uncertain.

Based on a sample size of 2 they buy in at 2/3 the sale price,

I've both times questioned their valuation & got an extra ~5% although both times the quote was reasonable-ish considering their glass fronted overheads.

No buying experience.

So I'll be trying to sell on eBay first.

They were good when I bought. Very responsive now that I’m selling.

Not when you're selling. eBay has been £300-400 higher than WF for the last three I've seen on there that apparently sold.

If buying on a bracelet be sure to insist that you get all spare links. WF have a habit of not including them and selling them elsewhere or separately.

I traded in a Tudor BB chrono for a moonwatch a good few years ago now. Smooth transaction and no quibbling with the valuation on the Tudor once received. They are perhaps a tad on the expensive side but no concerns at all with their reputation.

What Omega you going for?

Thanks for all the responses, seems they are a decent company.

I'm buying a Seamaster Planet Ocean on a rubber strap this time.
I already have a Seamaster 300m on a bracelet with a white face (current model) so a rubber strap was preferable this time.

Bought with them numerous times and wouldn’t hesitate to again for the right price.

They do value your custom as almost anyone can get a discount from them but I am able to achieve a greater discount than a mate was for his watch as they could see my buying history with them.

I've bought with them twice as has my brother.

My brother is currently in the process of chopping in a panerai, the value on the pan is £700 less than he paid for it from them 12 months ago, and they have price matched a Sub for sale at another dealer and taken a grand off. Their PX value is also £500 more than the independent offered. The PX was collected by courier Friday and just awaiting on the Sub to ship.

All been flawless so far, as expected. I would have no issue buying anything from them.

I've used Iconic Watches before and found them to be very good. Between a few of us we have brought a few watches from them over the years.

How is the condition generally?

Are you reminded from marks the watch is used?
I find website photos rarely match the reality.

A friend of mine bought a black dial Daytona from Watchfinder- when it arrived and he looked at the paperwork it transpired
the watch had previously been a white dial- bit naughty ……they gave him a full refund but it was all hassle he didn’t need

They area always as they are on the website. Worth asking too if they have a couple in stock, if any are better condition that others or anything on note. On one of my Omega's, one was about to have the Bezel replaced, so I chose that one.

I've bought and sold around 8 watches with them, I've just bought a Rolex DJII 116334 with the blue dial pick up on Saturday, yes they are expensive compared to others but I've found the service excellent, I got £400 off the Rolex but they put it on to take it off.

For me it's piece of mind as well they're owned by one of the global watch groups (Richemont)
