Hi, just wondering if anyone is ‘in the know’ concerning a problem affecting the new 330d I have ordered and many other cars using the same engine it seems.

Although the car is built and has been in the UK since early April, I can’t take delivery due to a piston problem which apparently can cause piston ring breakage. The chosen solution is for BMW to change the engine, but neither BMW nor the dealer can give any likely timescale for this to be carried out.

Anyone else experiencing the same issue or can someone throw any light on what’s happening? Thanks.

Interesting so that would be B57 engines, not sure on the full engine code mind!

That engine has been out for some years, so for this to happen on a new vehicle must be due to an issue with a bad batch of engines/pistons.

Maybe global supply issues are holding up their resolution, but if needed, I'd be expecting BMW to get you a hire car in the meantime...or allow you to unwind the order and go elsewhere.

I have the same problem ordered a new 530d apparently it’s all the G30engines built between a certain date in April that’s affected. No time on when they will be ready.

Happens that an issue is identified by the manufacture and takes a while for them workout a solution. It happen to me with VW and it took 3months for them to resolve.
