Thinking about an Audi RS4 (B8) - What is the ride quality like?

Read a few reviews online and mixed comments. A colleague has the S4 version and it feels a bit firm to me.

I had a Porsche 997.2 previously and if its similar to that, I'd be happy.

Dunno if this helps, but I had an RS3 before my current 997.2 and the RS3 ride quality was awful. That's the main reason I sold it. That and the tyre roar, torque steer, uncomfortable seats and dodgy rep (you should have heard some of the people who rang up to buy it.)

Thanks. I've generally never been impressed by Audi ride quality.

If someone can compare the RS4 to a Porsche 997.2 that would be useful.

It’s not good but similar to 997 (my wife has a 997.1 4s).
The ride in the RS4 B9, however, if you can stretch to the later model, is excellent.

In Comfort mode, very comfortable - best for town and motorways

In Auto mode, a little firmer - when 'pressing on'

In Dynamic mode, ridiculously stiff - never used

Changing from P Zeros to Michelin PS4Ss has made it even quieter and smoother...

It's the one car of my 'fleet' that I'll almost certainly keep.... smile

Hope that helps

Thanks chaps.

Got a test drive booked for Friday.

Budget doesn't stretch to a B9, if it did, I would probably go for the RS6 anyway.

Make sure you get a chance to "open her up" - none of those pesky turbos to spoil things - it redlines at 8250 for a good (and wonderfully sonorous) reason....

I had then and then stupidly traded in for latest model.

Full on attack mode was silly as was dynamic steering, personalised to comfort with exhaust noise was lovely..

Just had a test drive and it's a great sports car. Very similar to my Porsche 997.2, very engaging, very quick and strong brakes.

I should have paid more attention to the advert, as this one had aftermarket Koni suspension, so not adjustable! It was generally okay but I would have prefered more comfort.

Also not sure about the seats, I'd prefer a bit more comfort.

Back to the drawing board I think.

Coilovers spoil the car dynamically, for me.

I can't confess to (personally) liking the bucket seats either.

DRC in good condition with Super Sport seats (ideally Alcantara) I rather like.

As a car they get under your skin but you do need time with them to fully appreciate the package. Not a car that shows you everything it has on a short test drive.

You 'must' try a standard car with DRC, regular seats etc.....
