Good morning all,

My partner and I are due to stay in Alderley Edge for a couple of nights toward the end of June. We have some things to do in and around Chester, but can anyone advise on any bars and restaurants to visit? I will eat anywhere, but the gf favors Italian.

Thank in advance

Sam

In Chester la fattoria or urbano32 would be my suggestions for Italian food

Da noi is our restaurant of choice if we want Italian food these days and we only live half hour up the road . it’s a small place with a limited menu but if you like real Italian food give it a go , the owners are Italian and the cook is fiercely proud of what she makes , and rightly so , it’s the only restaurant I’ve ever sat in being a knuckle dragging carnivore and decided the veggie option is really appealing .

I went and stayed in the Wizard's Thatch recently.

The owner gave us a few recommendations and said "whatever you do, don't go to the Chinese as the main courses are about £70 each".

I thought to myself "no they're not" so we went there.

Yu - it was called. Sure enough, meals were nowhere neat £70 and it was nice.

Be sure to check the hygiene ratings, some of Alderley’s finest only each a 3!

The Sticky Walnut in Chester. Been brilliant every time I've been.

A bit closer to where you're staying - the Rose & Crown in Knutsford is a nice pub that does decent food. Good little garden area at the back if the weather's nice.

The less said about Alderley Edge the better.

The Church Inn, Mobberley is excellent. Though not Italian.

La Famiglia in Hale was excellent, I assume it still is.

Possibly the most suitable is San Carlo at the Marriot near the Airport/Hale Barnes, which to be fair, is very decent. It definately has the Alderley Edge vibe, if that's what you're after.

About mid-way between AE and Chester:

Country pub, so again not specifically Italian but always been good food for our visits.

In my opinion, it is now a pastiche of its old reputation as being somewhere nice.

Our CEO refers to Alderly Edge as 'Orange County' due to the predominance of Footballer wives in all upmarket establishments

Thanks to all for the recommendations so far. I am there due to work for a couple of nights, but the GF is coming along as she is aware it is close to Cheshire Oaks etc so can get some shopping in.

Soulless, brash, tourists with orange tans visit and puke in the streets, lots of coke, poor quality food (but yeah, the Chinese isn't bad we used to know the owners), men of a certain age with mullets etc etc. There's a very good and village original bakery called Weinholts. Good restaurants though? None.

We went for a walk in the woods, and found 'The Edge' as referred to in the name, which gives lovely views.

Also found a natural waterfall.

Yara is excellent, good shout. Though I think the Alty location is better.
