Plug not connected, is that normal?

I discovered a cable in the footwell of my Aston Martin Vantage which is not connected, is that normal?

I can’t comment on that particular plug, but Astons do have some redundancy in their harnesses, so it simply may be for an option your car doesn’t have

Could be a clutch travel sensor that you don't have.

If you can tell us what options you do not have on your car, we can tell you which plug it isn't that you don't have!

Well the car is running, and I have no errors. So it could be like you said for an option that I don't have on my car, or the clutch

But to be honest I don't know which options I don't have, I bought the car recently, and I have no clue what options exist


Did anyone of you maybe had a look in your car to see if you have the same plug not connected?

Only a guess, but you never know might be correct.

To start the engine of a manual Vantage, requires the clutch pedal to be pressed down.
A switch or sensor presumably must detect when that pedal is pressed.
Without a clutch pedal, no sensor, so therefore an unused electrical connector.

As Ridds & Jon39 have said, it is for attaching to the clutch pedal, so yours must be a Sportshift. I will try to upload a photo, hopefully you will see the large blue switch attached to the clutch pedal top left corner of the picture (assuming it loads correctly) and next to the one that is attached at the end of the brake pedal. The wires going into it look to be two shades of green and a purple one that has a darker stripe.
