HELP!!! Alarm won't stop!!

For no reason this evening my alarm siren has decided to go off. No amount of activation/deactivation with my blipper has managed to cease the alarm from squeeling (loudly). However, the blipper is activating the doors/immobilisor as normal and the hazards aren't flashing when the alarm is squeeling.

I've tried searching the forum for a solution, but can't get a direct answer to solve it (i.e do THIS).

HELP PLEASE! (My neighbours can cope now, but will be getting stroppy in a few hours!) LOL

Disconnect the siren, have a cup of tea, go to bed.

Well, tried that - siren still runs from back-up battery, and it's not going to fix the problem by ignoring it.

your battery backup inside your siren is running low
and that is an alarm condition.

unplug siren unit where it plugs into the controller
then buy replacement at leisure about £75.

battery is not replaceable

Not replaceable? I've yet to find anything where that applies.

Open the siren (with a hacksaw if you have to), remove/desolder the battery, replace, glue back together.

I had a similar issue with my Volvo, backlit switch went on the dash (no light), £25 to repair at Volvo (replacement). Opened the switch with a knife, £0.06 bulb from Maplin, soldered it in, glued back together, jobs a good un.

I had exactly the same problem alarm just started going off unannounced - unfortunately was travelling at 70mph on the motorway at the time

The RAC disconnected the siren which sounded like it was on its last death throws anyway and I got Carl Baker to fit a new siren for about £90 a few days later. Apparently it is due to the battery back-up failing.

Obviously, don't leave the siren disconnected for too long, you may have problems with an insurance claim should the worst happen.

Apparently one of the problems with the siren unit is that it is located in the engine bay facing forward. When Carl fits it he mounts it at 90o
