I'm having a couple of friends over on Sunday, and the plan was a classic beef roast. We've been renovating our house, so this will be the first time in months that we've got a working kitchen so can do some proper cooking.
But now I've seen the forecast is sunny and warm, I'm thinking a BBQ is a better/more appealing plan.

In the summer months do people find they shun the classic roast in favour of BBQ classics (assuming you have a BBQ of course) or are roasts still a big part of life no matter what the weather looks like?

Combine the two and do the joint on the BBQ.

Joint on the BBQ, more room in the oven for extra roast tatties.
Win-win!

So it seems the answer is that roasts are always on the menu, all year round!

A "classic roast" is a "BBQ Classic"

Never roasted a joint on the BBQ before, so to me BBQ classic is burgers, sausages and some sort of chicken item. If I'm feeling fancy I'll do my own ribs as well.

Why not do a spatchcock chicken roast in the new oven and finish it on the BBQ for a bit of char/smoke- best of both then and if the weather doesn't allow the BBQ then it'll just be a classic roast anyway.

Actually, I might try this............

I guess my main thought/point was avoiding the kitchen all together, like cooking the veg, roasties, yorkshires etc in favour of BBQ only cooking. And that's just because it feels like quite hot, sweaty work using hob/ovens on a hot day.

Yeah, you're coming across as a bit of a roast amateur. How can you ever have enough roast spuds? confused
