Longevity / suitability of vinyl and 'liquid' wraps...
Discussion
Considering a wrap on a black car to achieve colour change. Porsche 987.
Car has 40k miles and some small / light stone chips, otherwise paintwork good. Not 100% sure if all original paint, but I think so. This can be investigated. Probably do about 10k miles a year.
Would either vinyl or liquid / spray wrap be a reasonably durable solution? I'd want it to last at least three years. If it's the sort of thing that's going to start looking tired / begin to peel etc after 18 months, then probably not for me.
Also interested in the inevitability of damage to paint. Does a vinyl wrap inevitably involve a bit of damage during fitting when cutting / trimming the wrap etc? Will it inevitably pull some of the paint / lacquer on removal if there are any chips at all underneath? Ditto spray wraps. What are realistic expectations.
Realise much of this may be dependent on paint condition, just trying to get a broad steer including a sense check if wrapping of any kind is a remotely good idea for a car that does actual miles rather than sits in a garage! Thanks.
