Z4 roof

Tried a Z4 for the first time yesterday; E89, 10 reg, about 60k.

It drove well, but I wasn't expecting quite so many rattles from the roof and inside. Did I try a duff one or do "they all do that, sir" ?

I'd try a few others. I have the E85 variant (2004, 85k miles) and while it squeaks and rattles a bit it is nothing compared to my old E36 convertible which sounded like a tipper truck full of pots and pans going down the Spanish Steps in Rome

As 'Cb' says, try a few others first before parting with your hard earned. I've owned mine for nearly six years now and never noticed any serious squeaks or rattles with the roof. I seem to get an intermittent vibration that moves around the cabin from week to week. Some days it sounds like it's coming from the glovebox and last week the drivers sun-visor / a-pillar area which can be extremely frustrating. Especially when you're banging, prodding, pushing and inevitably swearing at the trim, but nothing seems to work. But the swearing bit is good stress relief.
