What’s the opinion? I need a jacket for hot weather, I’m baking in my Rukka, torn between a mesh jacket with waterproof / wind proof liner, or a replacement for the Rukka, maybe goretex and vented.
Any recommendations?

I use the Rukka Forsair (or whatever the latest update of it is) Mesh Jkt & Trsrs. Good combination of airflow & protection.
Then just carry a thin waterproof over suit with me when touring.
It's also a lot lighter than my full on winter Gortex Rukka suit, or leathers.

Mesh jacket for me only comes out at anything above 26 degrees if I can be arsed to ride. That equates to very little use hear in the uk but I have worn it once. What country are you from?
Mine is an rst variant and does have inner lining if needed. Its bloody breezy if you venture out below the temp above but I'm nesh.

For hot weather I've got a Rokker armoured flannel shirt - looks like a slightly padded normal checkered shirt but is armoured and abrasion resistant - its also pretty decent with light summer downpours and airy enough that you don't sweat to death. Only gripe with it is you look a little bit like a lumberjack! smile

Last time out it was 22-23deg, just buzzing around locally, 20-40 miles.
Further than that I’ll suffer and put the leathers on.

been know to just ride in a long-sleeved teeshirt when it's really hot but I'm a big boy and know the risks

I have a Rev-It Ignition 3 leather and mesh jacket that I wear all summer over here (NZ).

Leather panels and CE padding/armour where it's needed (outer arms, shoulders, some other panels). Big areas of really sturdy mesh everywhere else. Huge zipped vents in the arms too.

It has a waterproof liner that packs really small so is easy to tuck under the seat for unexpected downpours, and a somewhat pointless thermal liner that I never use.

I have a Klim Marrakesh jacket which is fine for temps up to mid-high 30’s. The whole jacket flows air and is super comfortable with a woven/stretch cordura fabric.

Thanks, I’m going to take a look at the Klim and Rukka

Might be worth a look at Dainese. I have one of their mesh jackets here in southern Spain. Works well...

I just went for blast to the seaside. Dainese mesh jacket in 24C weather. Perfect!

Yes I have a Dainese mesh jacket, was especially good on my BMW RT touring bike, where the fairing protects you from the wind..

I have a dainese mesh jacket which is really good, but just too much black on it so it does get hot, you need to moving fast.

I also got a Klim Carlsbad jacket, which although looking way less mesh-like than the dainese one, seems to be much cooler. It has 6 zips for venting and does a great job of it. It's also sand coloured so doesn't soak up the heat, and is also goretex too.

Honestly Klim stuff is like magic, expensive, but just works. And I use this in temps from 10C-40C with humidity.

Great bit of kit. I've got the new one now too which is AA rated. Only jacket you'll ever need.

+1 for the Klim Marrakesh. I bought one just over a year ago and love it. Okay, so in proper heat, you will still sweat, but for UK summers, there really is nothing to beat it. Mine is bearable for a 1/2hr trip in anything over 13C and good once you're in the later teens.

It isn't a mesh, but more a very breathable looser fabric (and water repellant for showers). If you run a bit hot and want something just for high summer, a mesh may be better, but as an all-rounder, the Marrakesh is unbeatable IMHO. Being from the USA, the sizing is on the generous side, so if in doubt go smaller.

I went light grey to keep the sun's heat under control so you have to accept it will be in the washing machine every now and then. Paired with woven kevlar jeans and some Helston's boots, it is perfectly wearable off the bike and includes a full set of D30 armour. Not cheap TBH, but top quality and has a wider range of temperatures for use than expected.

That's what I like about Klim gear, it comes in lots of lighter colours which don't absorb the heat as much.

is it worth the upgrade? i've only had mine just over a year so no need to, but its the only jacket i'll ever need for the road [i have a wax oxford for when it gets cold, say 25degC hehe] so the AA rating is appealing. the fit is perfect for me, and if i ever need to i can get the outer layer to go with it.

Thanks for all the advice, ended up with a Rukka Forsair https://www.motolegends.com/jackets/rukka-forsair-...
Tried on most that have been recommended, some of the cheaper jackets felt a bit lightweight, so ended up with a choice between Rukka and Klim, I was a bit between sizes for Klim so went for the Rukka, had a very cool ride home!

Do these have a means of attaching to jeans/trousers?
